Power System Modeling & Validation Services

GridTech Solutions specializes in the development, testing, and validation of dynamic models for transmission-level generation and inverter-based resources. We support full model life-cycle management, from initial development through ISO/RTO application and NERC compliance. 

Development of Generic and User-Defined Models

 We develop both standard library models and custom user-defined models (UDMs) for PSS®E, PSCAD, TSAT, and other platforms to accurately represent generation technologies, plant controllers, and custom controls. 

Plant-Level Model Development for Interconnection Applications

We create representative plant-level models that capture active/reactive power controls, voltage regulation, frequency response, and protection logic — ensuring conformance with interconnection requirements and NERC compliance studies. 

Full Detailed Model Development for Facility Studies

Our engineers build detailed, site-specific powerflow and dynamic models based on as-built data, manufacturer data, controller settings, and operational logic — essential for system studies such as reactive power and etc. and compliance studies such as PRC-024/029. 

Model Verification per NERC/ISO/RTO Standards

We provide model verification services as required by NERC MOD standards and regional testing protocols (e.g., ERCOT Part 3, etc.). Our services include test plan creation, field support, simulation comparison, and validation reporting. 

Model Quality Testing (MQT)

We conduct MQT to verify simulation performance against actual test results and platform expectations, as required by:

  • ERCOT 
  • TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) 
  • HECO (Hawaiian Electric)

Model Benchmarking Across Platforms

We validate dynamic models across PSS®E, PSCAD, and TSAT, ensuring consistent simulation behavior across different simulation environments and aligning with site-measured data.
